The entry into force of the Ecobonus starting from July 1st, 2019 brings a great change: the possibility of having an immediate discount instead of a tax deduction. Here a mini-guide on how to use the Ecobonus to energetically upgrade our home.
Energy requalification: in which cases
Energy requalification means interventions which improve the energy class of a building or an apartment:
- Improvements on the heating system. Examples: boiler or heat pump replacement.
- Thermal insulation. Examples: renovating the walls or on the roof, changing the windows or solar screens.
- Energy production. Examples: installation of solar panels and photovoltaic systems.
Among the new features of the Decreto Crescita (the “Growth Act”) concerning the ecobonus is the so-called Air Conditioner Bonus, which is a tax deduction or a discount for those who buy an air conditioner. Definitely a happy news in these torrid weeks. This bonus is only valid if the installation saves energy.
Bonus Percentages
The applicable percentages of the bonus are the following:
50% bonus with deduction in 10 years on:
- Fixtures and solar screens.
- Class A condensing boiler without installation of advanced thermoregulation systems, winter air conditioning systems equipped with heat generators fed by combustible biomasses.
- Installation of new air conditioner.
65% Bonus with deduction in 10 years on:
- Installation of solar panels (with ENEA certification).
- Installation of new air conditioner to replace an old one.
For more detailed information on particular interventions, it is always a nice idea to consult the ENEA website .
Instant discount: when?
The big news of the Growth Act is the possibility to choose between the usual deduction in 10 years or an immediate discount on the purchase price or on the invoice. If we choose for the discount, though, the maximum bonus applied would be 50% only.
It should be emphasized that this discount is valid only for certain purchases and interventions that involve energy savings such as:
- Air conditioners
- New fixtures (doors, windows)
- Condensing boilers
- Pellet stoves and heat pump boilers
- Photovoltaic panels
